Rosa Barba's installations make use of all of the elements of film language. Visual components, sound, and text are used separately (It's gonna happen, 2005) or combined in unexpected ways to prompt a new perception of the film's subject-matter.A fundamental role is entrusted to time, which is often altered to create a lag between reality and fiction. Similarly, a documentary approach is used to suggest an almost dreamlike atmosphere, with stories colored in surreal tones. Her films-all of which are actually shot-show existing places bathed in a light that accents their enigmatic character. Old building and structures, uninhabited houses, and abandoned hangars become the backdrop for stories that preserve a quid of the unfinished, divided between an attachment to real life and a lightened sense of suspension.
