Born in Catania nel 1967. Lives in Catania

Loredana Longo's research grows out of a reflection on her own image, which she reproposes in photographs, installations, videos, and performances. Her work is characterized by its highly autobiographical nature, which takes on form in different media. Another of Longo's favorite subjects is the family, which she narrates in all its many contradictions. The home is presented as the place where these conflicts emerge and becomes the stage of complex psychological and social dynamics. In one of her most recent projects entitled Explosion, Longo constructs scenes of family life that she then ‘explodes,' only to faithfully recompose them piece by piece. The various stages of destruction and reconstruction are documented on video and reproposed ad infinitum in loop. The domestic environment, the private ambience par excellence, is transformed into a multifaceted battleground, making it an ideal model for studying social relationships on a broader scale.
