Alessandro Piangiamore

Alessandro Piangiamore's work is based on a series of questions that concern the distance between appearance and reality and that, as such, affect the limits of representation in as much the idea of truth is taken as something which is never univocal and definitive.Key to his poetics is the phenomenon of gravity, understood physically as the attraction of a mass with respect to a core and then widened to emotional and intellectual spheres. All of Piangiamore's works attempt to incite doubt through irony, tension, and unease, setting off a sort of short-circuit between reality and the sphere of the imaginary. Piangiamore appropriates everyday elements and transforms them by giving them new meaning. He defines his work as a sort of hypertext; every work-photographs, installations, sculptures-takes on its own formal and conceptual autonomy but, at the same time, becomes part of a network in which there is an inevitable play of cross-references.
