video output of an audiovisual performance in real time, 8’

Born in Turin in 1965. Lives in Palermo.

After receiving a diploma in double bass and composition at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Domenico Sciajno began his career as a composer and performer in the field of electroacoustic music. In addition to working as a musician, he made interactive sound installations in which he combined the use of digital audiovisual equipment with performance. The concept of improvisation characterizes the compositional phase of the music as much as the live events in which the public is invited to participate. Sciajno uses techniques of sound syntheses and concrete or ambience sounds to create audio tracks that can then be modified or organized in real time, taking advantage of sound spatialization techniques and exploring the possibilities of stimulating new aspects of acoustic perception. The artist-composer also uses live computer processing to establish new forms of dialogue between sound and image, going from apparently abstract and visionary sequences to metaphorical forays into politics and social concerns of the new globalized and globalizing world (as in the recent dAtA series).
