Born in Catania in 1973. Lives in Milan.

Filippo La Vaccara relies on various tools, such as photography, drawing, and notes, to archive images and suggestions that he finds particularly stimulating and that eventually become the starting point for his painted scenes and sculptures. Different materials are used to evoke another dimension, made up of figures, landscapes, and invented situations, suspended in time. Though easily recognizable, his subjects occupy an imaginary world, taking on an enigmatic character and concealing deeper substrates. All of his research is divided between the attention given to the work's sense datum and an interest in what it conceals, offering the viewer a ‘clear' and at the same time more problematic reading.
